Do Not Hire An Amazon Product Copywriter Until…

Copywriting for Amazon

Look. I know that there are hundreds of other Amazon product copywriters out there who would love to get your business.

And I’m going to be straight up honest with you. I do these on the side for fun. Fun? Yes. These are a nice break from the long-term product or company launch consulting projects I do.

Although these are fun for me, they are still quite a bit of work that involved research on multiple fronts and I like the challenge of being limited in writing on-brand sales copy when it comes to the number of characters I need to stay within for the titles, bullets, and product description.

Writing Amazon sales copy my be fun, but it is certainly not easy. It took me a long time to figure things out through trial and error.

A lot of new copywriters get into the Amazon game because at first glance, this seems like an easy project…

I mean all we’re talking about is a headline, some bullet points, and a description, right?

They are wrong. Dead wrong.

Depending on the product or niche, the initial upfront research needed to determine the keywords, do the competitor research, the SEO research, etc. can take as long or longer to write the actual copy. And on top of that, you have to maintain the tone of the brand across all of the products.

One really has to have their Amazon A-Game switched on.

Why?

Because they need to ensure that their sales copy not only reads well… but converts visitors into sales.

Hiring an Amazon Copywriting Service is a very smart idea.

Now as I mentioned on my Amazon copywriting services page, you’ll find pricing for copy ranging anywhere from a few hundred to a couple thousand dollars per listing, and everywhere in between.

And then there are plenty of sites that make you contact them to get their ‘special pricing’ for their Amazon product copywriting services.

Personally, I don’t hide from my pricing. To check out my pricing, be sure to check out my Amazon page above.

Before You Hire ANY Amazon Product Copywriter…

Do not hire them until…

1. They can 100% prove to you that they understand how to write copy that converts into sales on Amazon.

2. They have years of experience writing direct response copy.

3. They have proof. Meaning, they can show you client’s product listings that they were the Amazon product copywriter for.

4. They have real-world experience selling FBA products on Amazon themselves. (This is a big one!)

5. They can honestly tell you that they have personally gone through one, or several of the big-ticket Amazon FBA courses or seminars.

6. They are active and/or follow Amazon groups to stay up-to-date on the best practices for selling products on Amazon.

I know you’re excited to get your Amazon product page live so you can start raking in the sales. . .

But don’t go hog-wild and rush this process.

Selecting the right Amazon product copywriter can make or break your description page.

Whether it is me, or someone else, be sure you do your homework and research. Take a look around their website.

Does it look like they just tossed up a quick 1-2 page website to offer Amazon services cheap?

Can you find anything about who they are or their background?

Do they have an examples of content writing that you can review?

Have they built and run successful Amazon FBA businesses in the past? Were they able to reach #1 in their category?

Especially today, it is a good idea to know who you are doing business with – and that whomever you hire can be trusted with the copywriting for your Amazon product listing page.

If you end up deciding that I’m a great fit for your project(s), awesome. I look forward to hearing from you.

If not, no hard feelings. Maybe we can work together on another project another day.

At the very least, I hope this helped you put on the brakes, and allowed you to take a step back and really think things through before you hire just any Amazon product copywriter to write the content for your product page.
