As an online marketer, sometimes you just have to follow the rules, even though much of this industry was forged by pioneers who like to bend or break rules.
Although as tempting as it may be to bend this rule, this is one I’m not messing with because it comes from the FTC. So here goes nothing…
From time to time I may link to products and services outside of this website. Sometimes these links will be affiliate links.
What that means is if you make a purchase using my affiliate link, I will earn a small commission which helps support my addiction to buying books on Amazon and enrolling into various marketing courses I keep finding online.
So here’s the deal: I do not put affiliate links on any of my pages 99.83% of the time (a rough guess). However, I may have affiliate links in some of my articles from time to time if I’m writing about a product or service, especially one that I use personally and find a lot of value in it.
I mean, why shouldn’t we earn a few pennies sharing products and services we like with others who purchase those products and services? That’s the way the whole world should work, in my opinion. And in many ways, it does if you join affiliate networks, you’ll find just about everyone has an affiliate program.
Like the shirt you just bought? Odds are the company you bought it from has an affiliate program where you can earn a commission by sending others to the shirt you just bought.
Speaking of which, as an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. There’s another one of those blurbs you need to have somewhere on your website to be compliant. See how I was sneaky and stuck it in there?
It was magic, wasn’t it? Man I just love being a copywriter for salesletters, websites, and all sorts of things.
I may link to some goodies that I buy on Amazon from time to time in my posts. Instead of linking directly, I simply use my affiliate link and make a tiny commission on sales I refer.
I won’t get rich through the Amazon Associates program, but if I can fund a book or two from time to time, that works for me.
Affiliate marketing is a nice way to generate a part-time or even a full-time income. It’s something that I’ll blog about from time to time.
Anyway, I’m not compliant and free to blog and link to products and services that I think are great.
Thanks for reading and I hope you have a nice day!
